Xiaoxue joined the Computational Privacy Group (CPG) as a PhD student in October 2024. Her research interests are broadly in the intersection between privacy and machine learning, including privacy attacks against machine learning models and data releases such as synthetic data.

Prior to joining the CPG, Xiaoxue obtained her BSc in Statistics and Economics from the University of Toronto. Afterwards, she worked as a consultant in technology consulting before she transitioned to a data scientist role in AI consulting at Deloitte Canada. As a data scientist, she applied machine learning and statistical techniques to solve business problems for clients across various sectors, including financial services, healthcare, and non-profit.

Her experience as a data scientist sparked her interest in specializing further in machine learning and AI, leading her to pursue an MSc in Artificial Intelligence at Imperial College London. Her MSc thesis, completed under the supervision of the CPG, explored privacy attacks against machine learning models.
