Pascal joined the Computational Privacy Group in March 2024 as a 6-month Visiting Student to undertake his Master’s thesis. His research interests include privacy attacks against machine learning models and federated learning.

Pascal obtained his BsC in Mathematics from EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne). Passionate about coding and statistics, he decided to pursue his MsC in Data Science at EPFL. During his Master’s, he developed a keen interest for privacy-preserving machine learning techniques. For one of his projects, he researched the effectiveness of data distillation in a federated learning setting.

Before joining the CPG, Pascal interned at Visium, a Swiss AI & Data consulting firm, as a Junior Machine Learning Engineer. There, he gathered valuable practical knowledge into how ML projects are conducted in the industry. His work included implementing a recommender system and contributing to the development of the company’s internal database.
